Mahatma Gandhi’s words ring true this week, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
In a few short days our new president will be sworn in. Regardless of whether you cast a vote for Mr. Obama or one of his opponents, you have a unique opportunity to share your ideas for change at the president-elect’s Web site Change.gov. After months of running a campaign based on change, our new president has held true to his word. Change.gov is a forum for all of us to post our stories and suggestions. If you prefer, you can vote for ideas that others have submitted. The best ideas will be collected in a Citizen’s Briefing Book which will be delivered to President Obama in the days ahead.
Any idea is welcome–from reforming health care (top of my list) to how to evolve with technology. If you’re like me, you may have felt disheartened and disconnected to our legislative system. I’m not naive enough to believe that one politician alone will change this country’s many problems. But, I still believe in Gandhi’s words and maybe collectively we can!
